Drug peddler involved in martyring cop killed in fire exchange

Islamabad-A suspected drug peddler involved in martyring a cop of capital police has been killed during an exchange of fire with police in Shehzad Town area on Saturday, informed sources.
The deceased drug peddler identified as Adnan was a habitual criminal and had been sent to jail by courts in seven cases of narcotics and illegal weapons. However, the accomplice of the drug peddler managed to escape from the scene. According to sources, the Shehzad Town police officials received information that the drug peddler Adnan who is wanted by police in murder case of Constable Muhammad Aqib might pass through Jagiot Road in the night.
The police team while checking the vehicles at Pir Sahaba Chowk detected two suspicious persons riding on a motorcycle. The cops signalled the duo to stop for checking when the motorcyclists opened indiscriminate firing on the police party. The police also retaliated that compelled one of the suspects to escape from the scene and the other died on the spot.
However, cops remained unhurt in the gun attack by the motorcyclists.
A pistol was also seized by the police from the scene and the body was moved to PIMS for autopsy while a case has been registered against the attackers, sources said.
