In an extremely rare incident, an elephant in India’s Bandipur National Park gave birth to twins, and the video of the mother playing with her calves is going viral.

In the video, the baby elephants can be seen stumbling and learning to walk while the mother looks over them.

The caption read: “An elephant at Bandipur National Park, India gave birth to twin calves. An event said to be extremely rare.”

The female elephant gave birth to the calves at Bandipur Tiger Reserve in Karnataka earlier this week, NDTV reported, citing local forest department officials.

The officials reported that the pregnant elephant was in labour and struggling to deliver. She then moved to a nearby pond. When she came out, she brought two calves with her.

Luckily, the tourists were able to capture these moments on their phones.

According to the Society for the Protection of Animals Abroad, it is a one-in-a-million chance for elephants to deliver twins.
